As a means of escaping the uncertainty of the Covid crisis, Richard Dupont found refuge in the endurance of nature. What began as a meditative practice became a daily habit of painting scenes from memory. Rather than following the impulse to rely on image or technology, his work abstracts the natural world, creating landscapes that don’t belong to a particular time and place. Instead, Dupont’s watercolors exist in their uniquely captivating world—an act of creation that Dupont defines as an “ongoing preoccupation with my own disappearing act.” Planthouse is pleased to present Richard Dupont’s Desert Island Drawings this summer.
